Gemma and Filo

Translation from Italian: gemma (ˈdʒɛmma) gem and filo (ˈfeelo) thread.

Over the last few months, I’ve been working with Katerina developing her new brand, and illustrating this adorable, chubby little unicorn, Filo. She came to me wanting an eclectic, whimsical brand to match the whimsy, magical aesthetic and feel of her pieces, and we could not be more thrilled with the outcome.

Gemma + Filo was founded with the intent of creating unique accessories for little girls – accessories that are one-part sweet and one-part funky. Gemma + Filo strives for dreamy and feminine, with a constant hint of whimsy. The collection mixes old and new elements – from antique chandelier crystals, vintage buttons, and freshwater pearls, to handmade pompoms, tassels, African sea glass beads, feathers and chains.

Katerina is the creative mind behind the brand, Gemma + Filo, a children’s jewelry boutique for little dreamers. She has been gradually moving toward G+F since she began sewing clothes and leather handbags for her Barbie dolls as an 11-year-old. Her love for jewelry can be credited to her grandfather, a trained goldsmith, and the many days spent under his workbench waiting to collect fallen shards of precious gems..

We worked together on her Mood Board, Color Palette, Signature Patterns & Textures, Custom Logo, Brand Style Guide, Secondary Logo, Brand Mark, Unicorn Illustration, Typography Selection, Business Card, Thank you Card, Promo Cards, Jewelry Card Inserts, Hang Tags, Jewelry Box Design, and a few more exciting goodies (that I can’t mention just yet). I can’t wait to share more with ya’ll, but in the meantime, here is a sneak peek + you can head over to Gemma + Filo to view and shop her adorable pieces.
